Basketball - All 2006 scores are now up on the site, no more games for another 3 weeks or so.. what will I do with myself?!

Forum - It's back online! After finally figuring out what was wrong with it (my service providers took it down without even telling me because it needed to be updated - THANKS FOR THE NOTICE!!!) - I've made the required changes and it's working again. Still don't think i'll be able to get back the 8,000 posts or whatever it used to have, SQL errors and FAR too much code to sort through to get it to work... so we'll just have to live with what we've got.

New Years - Headed to Mornington from the 30th December - 3rd January so I'll be offline for a while, but will come back with lots of photos hopefully :) I hope you all have a fantastic New Year!

Photo Gallery - TWO new albums up. Nadia's 25th Birthday and also last Friday night at Playhouse. Kristy's 21st is coming up in just under a fortnight's time and as that has a horror theme to it you can bet there will be lots of photos taken. I've spent quite a bit on my costume - just have to hope it arrives on time!!!

Basketball - Results updated... some damn close games this week and some clutch plays by yours truly. I hit 4 points in the last minute to get The Mob to draw with 2nd placed Bubblegummers and also got the game winner for The Hacks against 2nd placed COAT in A grade to win by one. Phew!

After a marathon effort of refreshing my browser over and over I managed to get seven U2 tickets for myself and friends. This thing sold out SO quickly and will be a monster concert. My best event of 2006 seems to be already decided!

Not too much happening at the moment - a couple of birthdays and outings happening in the next few weeks so expect some more photos from there. I'm also starting to collect a bunch of really old photos of myself (even some with the infamous long hair I used to have) so with some luck I might have that up by the end of the year as well.

Basketball - Results updated. I haven't been keeping track of the Corporate Cup games I've been playing in cause I haven't played in many (just enough to qualify for the finals it turns out) - we've made it to the grand final after winning this afternoon. The grand final is against Telstra at 1pm on Friday.

Group event! - I'm trying to see who is interested in coming along to see U2 in March next year. Tickets go on sale in a few weeks so I was trying to organise a bit of a group event to go along as I know there are quite a few people interested in going. Let me know if you want to join the party.

So I'm pretty much finished uni for the year - very happy about that! Got a few months off now - but no rest for the weary (well, ok I'll have a little rest). I'm going to start looking at short courses I can do or maybe even find some part-time IT work if I'm lucky. But I'll save this for a journal entry (next few days it should be there!).

Photo Gallery - it seems at Andy's going away I've accidentally snapped a picture of Lee from this seasons Australian Idol. Click here to check it out. I'm not joking either - it aint a lookalike! I don't think the advertising companies will be beating down my door for it - but it's a funny thing to have anyway :) I knew one of my random photos would come up with something interesting someday.

Basketball - B and C grade remain undefeated while A grade suffer another close loss due to injuries and unavailability of players. We went down to Beauy Sharks by 1 point. It was a huge effort to get back into the game in the dying minutes and with 5 seconds left to go I grabbed a rebound and took it all the way to our end for a tough contested layup - just couldn't get it to go in or draw a foul. We've got some work to do - we should still make the finals though, we went undefeated last season so with our full team back in a few weeks we should easily get the wins we need to get back in the finals race.

Poll - Ok time for a new poll. As I've joined a new B grade team this season (Demolition Men) it will mean I'll be up against the old Kerupt crew featuring Stix, Marcus, Nate, Dema, Nick and probably a few new faces too. Demolition Men won the first game of the season but both teams were missing players (I didn't play, I think Stix didn't play either). The rematch is on this week, and two more games will be played against them in the regular season. So the poll is your tip on the end of season results between these two teams.

Gday everyone - bought some tickets to Garbage today, turns out I bought one more ticket than I should have. If I don't find someone that wants the ticket in the next week I'll be putting it up on ebay. Full price was $90 for the ticket. Price is negotiable but get in quick - the first concert sold out and if the 2nd one does too this ticket will end up being worth more than what I paid for it and it'll be headed straight for the auction block.

In other news that application I made for youth group worked perfectly - took a LONG time to put it all together but should make future Quiz night things much better. I've come up with so many ideas for improvement as well so over summer I'll certainly be having a play around (although first order of business might be to make it look a bit more presentable - I'm no artist but hopefully I can come up with something!).

I have this bad feeling my mobile phone bill is going to be massive this month. With the amount of time I've been away from home this past month the sms's and calls have been racking up. Fingers crossed this new cap plan saves my ass.

Also, my A grade team has made it to the grand final again. We're looking at going back-to-back and anyone who feels like coming down and supporting The Hacks are more than welcome! It promises to be a really good game. Game time is Sunday 8pm at the King Club in Sandringham (on Tulip st). If you need more info just email me!

Been so busy with uni and this youth group application I'm coding (as well as some rather bizarre personal issues) that there hasn't been too much time for anything else. I'm looking at dropping out of one of my basketball teams next season. Having my Sunday nights back would be the best solution, but that would mean quitting the A grade team. Not sure where I'm going to go with this yet.

Having some gallery issues - I asked my host to do something so I could edit some settings but when they said it was done gallery didn't work anymore... I don't think they did it right. I'll see if I can fix it up myself. The photos and albums are still viewable - you just might get a few weird error messages, nothing to worry about. It's just that the number of times albums and photos are being viewed aren't being updated and it's been a problem for ages. While most of the albums have been viewed at least 50-100 times they're only incrementing very occasionally. Not much chance of getting those updates done I mentioned on Monday. I've got a heap of Uni work to do and with my personal situation the way that it is (if you know, you know...) it's not making things easy at the moment.

From a web stats point of view traffic has been pretty steady. July went through a bit of a slump as I was moving servers and had all those problems - dropped to an average of 33 views per day (although I'm probably missing some of the logs), but August so far is back at about average at 39 views per day. April 2005 has been my best month at a whopping 59 views per day. What were people looking at? Well after looking through the stats it seems as if someone had put the link to my humour machine into an email and circulated it around, as lots of people were going to that page and from there they browsed around the site a little (primarily the photo gallery). The forum was also seeing a bit of activity around that time too... I'm still hoping I can get everyone's accounts and the old posts back.

Two updates in one day? Has the world gone crazy?!

Not much of an update really, more of an informational extra. People have said "Your website says you've approved lots of people's birthdays but the list on the home page only shows one or two things happening". The little box on the left there is NOT the WebCalendar, it is simply showing whatever is happening within the next 30 days or so. I have no birthdays down for August, hence none are appearing. To see all the events in the WebCalendar, click on the "Upcoming WebCalendar Events" heading. If it doesn't take you straight to the main calendar click on the "Access Public Calendar" link down the bottom which will get you in. From there you can add your own entries (which I will have to approve so we don't get a bunch of rubbish in there!). If you need any more help shoot me an email. Cheers.

Monday 1st August 2005 (morning)

Lots of Birthdays added into the WebCalendar, thanks to those that submitted them.

Not much in the way of updates happening lately as I've been really busy with uni work and have had a pretty tough week (not going to go into it). I've also been working on a Flash program for Youth Group... it's been a much bigger undertaking than I thought and while it's been good for me to learn a bunch of new stuff in Flash programming, it's taken a LOT of time and I still have quite a bit more to do. I'll see what I can do on the website next weekend... what I hope to get done is:
A) Fix the way the webcalendar box looks on the right hand side
B) Add a new journal entry
C) Make more progress on fixing the Humour application (which hasn't been touched in about a year I'm guessing)
This will all depend upon where I'm at with uni and other priorities.

WebCalendar is moving along with a bunch of entries being made by different people, thanks to those who have helped get the ball rolling :) I'm hopeless at remembering things like birthdays, etc so it'll be good to get people to put things like that.

I found this video clip on the net yesterday. It's a video of someone recreating a scene from A Few Good Men using the HalfLife 2 engine. It's really well done I think and I'm quite excited really about how technology is progressing. Soon it shouldn't be hard for everyday people to create things like this. Poll - So I didn't bother waiting around long for the results and just decided to restart the forum from scratch AND add in the new WebCalendar feature. But I'll post the results of the poll anyway.
What should my course of action be?
1) Remove the forum altogether: 3 votes
2) Start it again from scratch: 8 votes
3) Keep trying to fix it: 8 votes
4) Replace it with a new feature: 3 votes.

Not a bad number of votes considering the poll was only open for about 24 hours. So now I've added a poll for what people think of the WebCalendar feature.

Forum - Have set it up again but with all the old posts and account gone. Sorry. I might try to fix it up again in the future, we'll see.

WebCalendar - have installed this new function which will be available by clicking the heading on the right of the index page. I invite everyone to add in people's Birthdays and other upcoming events - I will verify all events added to the public calendar which will also appear on the upcoming events window to the right. I'll try and make it look a bit neater when I have the time, but at least the functionality is there :)

Poll - well I guess this one is already useless as I've done options 2 and 4 together. Time to think of a new poll :)

Basketball - latest results added.

Forum - I'm having big difficulties restoring the database from the old forum. It just doesn't want to work. I'm guessing it has something to do with either the different versions of the forum, or different versions of SQL between my old server and the new one. I've tried going through the SQL myself and fixing code but it hasn't helped. I'm thinking of doing one of four things:
1) Remove the forum altogether
2) Start it again from scratch (and lose the 8000 posts accumulated in the past two years).
3) Keep trying to fix it; or
4) Replace it with a new feature (I was thinking maybe something like a public calendar). Other suggestions welcome.

Well I've got this poll feature setup now so I might as well put it up as a poll. Help me decide :)

Basketball - Another update. Had my first 30+ point game in a while tonight which included about four dunks and my first in-game alleyoop dunk. We also won by about 70. So big positives all round really!

Forum is still waiting to be fixed - it doesn't like the old database from the other server which is a worry. It means it might all be starting from scratch!

Forum - Updated the forum software to the latest version (old version could've been easily hacked apparently)

Logo - As my old logo was so bad, colourless and boring I've spent all of 15 minutes making a new one. It's not great, but it's better. This site is hanging for another redevelopment. It'll come soon! If you can't see the new logo (it's green), then you will probably need to delete your temporary internet files. Otherwise it'll probably show up for you in a few days or something.

By the way - those 4th row Tori Amos tix that I saw on Ebay ended up selling for over $900. Tempted me to sell mine for a moment, but it'll be too great an experience to miss.

Been pretty busy lately, haven't had too much time to do updates and the like... I've put up the Ballarat basketball tournament results in the Basketball section. We made it all the way to the grand final by winning seven games in a row but couldn't manage to win the last one. We were happy with that effort anyway!

Basketball Grand Final results are up and this time there are no disappointments - well... maybe from the opposition teams.

There will be a few clips coming out of these games thanks to Neil who was cameraman for the events. I don't have time to add them all up tonight as study is the priority... however here are two.

First is from the A grade grand final. I made a number of three point plays near the end of the game and the opposition bench started a bit of heckling when I was taking this foul shot. What they're saying isn't very audible in the video file but I had to acknowledge it after making the shot - Highlight 1

Second is from the C grade grand final. I wasn't sure whether I'd have the energy to do this at the end of the game but you've got to take your opportunities when they come! Nice and easy dunk. - Highlight 2

Congrats to all my teammates on their well earned wins... and to me for breaking my little hoodoo of underperforming in finals this past 6 months!

Video - It's been ten months since this area has had new footage but finally it's here! This time it's two clips. Number one is me having fun with my kitten using a laser pointer. He just chases it anywhere! Second one is a clip of Max and Ben taking each other on in a battle to the death!! Maybe not quite that serious but it's cute nonetheless :)

Photo Gallery update - Gallery is working again. The internet hosting I'm using has been rather unreliable - in another month or so I'll be changing to someone else so hopefully they will be faster and more reliable than what I'm currently using. I have no gripes with my current service provider though, they were cheap and good value!! I've got a bit more money now so can afford something a bit better. The gallery is still having a few problems.. at the moment you can't make comments and the number of people that have viewed an album is not increasing (eg. currently the Equilibrium Christmas Party photos only have 5 views where in actual fact there have been quite a few more according to the web logs).

My last exam for the year is on Thursday, wish me good luck!! Hopefully after that I'll get around to fixing up the few little things left to do here - maybe even make a start on the next redesign. This look is much cleaner than the original, but it's pretty plain!!

Been a while since an update!!

Back from Mt Buffalo. Had a great time - will get a journal entry going in the next few days. Came back with something I didn't expect, a new little kitten! He's going to live at Eleni's but I'm there all the time helping him settle in. Can't have him at home as my mum is allergic to lots of cats... oh well. I'm at Eleni's more often than home anyway I think! Anyway, I have named him Ben, he seemed to like that name.

Video - Look and feel for all the pages has been updated to be consistent with the rest of the site. It also seems as if the Equilibrium Ball videos had gone missing from the contents table. I've added them back in so you can see Stix's drunk dancing in all its glory.

Photo Gallery - Counters are working again (the last week or two they had been stuck due to a problem with the gallery setup after the server move - all fixed now)... and just a reminder for those that don't know - you can now post comments to photos yourself. If this is abused (eg. lots of nasty stuff being said) then I will remove this feature, or restrict it to only a few people - but I hope that doesn't have to happen.

Basketball - Results Updated

Note: The last few weeks I've been receiving emails from people asking me to join some "free sms" service called www.sms.ac. This service is a scam and after a while starts sending you sms advertising which they charge you to RECEIVE. Something like $1 per message. I advise anyone who has signed on to this program to delete your accounts immediately - and anyone who has been asked by a friend to sign up, to inform that friend of the scam so they aren't cheated out of their own money.

Website move has been completed, gallery is up and running again and things are lookin' good! Hopefully I'll have time to finish up the last remaining areas that need to be done (Video section & Humour application) - also looking at changing the way the navigation bar works at the top as waiting for the options to appear is a little annoying.

Forum News - Registration to view and post messages is now mandatory. This is to stop the recent influx of spam that has been hitting the forum lately. We're now up to 66 registered users and over 7000 posts! That's about an average of 15 posts per day since the forum started. Certainly got a lot more use than I originally anticipated.

Web Stats - Averaging about 20-30 visits per day this month, last month's maximum visits for one day was about 80 I believe which was around the time of the redesign. Seems like a few people checked it out. Sure, it looks better - but it's still got lots of room for improvement :) More time needed...

MAJOR UPDATE - The website's new design is finally getting put into action. Some areas are not fully completed but I thought I'd get this most of it up now and finish the rest off as I have time. I hope you all like the new design better and find it easier to read/navigate. Any comments - please feel free to email to me. And go easy on the unfinished Humour flash application as it's still a bit buggy and doesn't like manic clicking in the Images area.

Website has been up and down a little bit lately due to server problems. Hopefully they will be fixed within the next 24 hours. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have 2 spare Living End tickets which will go to waste unless someone wants them. They are for tonight in Frankston. They'll probably be starting around 9pm-ish. I've just finished changing my website to a new host. Because of this move some configuration changes are still to be made (redirects, link changes) which means that for the next few days you may get some page not found messages. Photos - I've obtained a brand new 4 megapixel digital camera and the first event I tried it out at was the Equilibrium Ball which was held on Saturday night. Stay tuned for a journal entry which has some interesting goings on after a few too many drinks were consumed by a few of my close friends.

Journal Update (finally). We've passed 30 registered users in the Forum as well which is impressive considering I thought it would get used for maybe two or three posts per day when in actual fact we're getting close to 40 per day!

Another update will come in the next day or so when I put up some pics from Friday night's Youth Group Gross Night. I'll also try and write a description of each night in the Journal sometime soon.

By the way - I realise how big the site design looks at lower resolutions. Unfortunately I didn't take that into consideration when I was whacking it together. I'll be sure to accomodate the resolution impaired (hah!) when I get the real design going.

Well it's been a while coming but I've finally decided to get this going and see what happens. In these pages you'll find out a lot about me, my life, my thoughts and hopefully it'll provide some small entertainment value as well!

There's a chat-room which is already being frequented by some of my friends (who knows - you might meet someone there you haven't spoken to in ages!) and the forum is now available from the link on the bottom left.

Pictures will be posted from time to time - I have a stack from my QLD trip to show as well as a few from basketball, youth group and my friends.

The Journal section will be updated ad-hoc with whatever I feel like talking about at the time. It might be silly, it might be philosophical... it might just be a recap of the day - the sky's the limit!

The Basketball area will keep track of the results of my basketball games and how I think I've been performing. I'd like to include scoring stats but I rarely keep track of my scoring nowadays so approximate guesses will be the best I can do. I have a few video clips of myself playing in last seasons A Grade Mens Grand Final win which I will get around to making available as well.

The Reviews section will contain movie, music, concert, tv, game and book reviews - and just about anything else I can think of that I want to rate. I'll allow other people to post reviews at some stage as well... but in the beginning I'll just put an email address for you to post them to and I will put them up manually.

The Humour section will just be jokes, pictures, funny movies or links to funny sites that I happen to see throughout my travels in cyberspace. This too will eventually allow others to contribute - but initially will work the same as the Reviews section.
